The Siskiyou County Public Health Department and its staff are here to help protect and preserve our health by taking an aggressive, proactive approach to health and environmental concerns. All of us at the Public Health Department are here to serve and assist the public. Our Public Health Officer, invites you to call our department at (530) 841-4040 with any questions. Leanne Brown, our Director of Personal Health Services, or Terry Barber, our Director of Environmental Health Services, will be happy to assist you with any questions or problems you might have. Our core functions are: 1. Prevention of epidemics. 2. Protection of the environment, workplaces, housing, food and water. 3. Promotion of positive health behaviors. 4. Monitoring the health of the population. 5. Mobilizing communities for action on health related issues. 6. Responding to disasters. 7. Assuring that medical services are of high quality, necessary, and appropriate. 8. Targeting outreach for linkage to personal health services. 9. Training health workers in investigating and preventing disease. 10. Developing policies to promote health.
