A new weather station in the Castle Lake area has been the primary goal of the Friends of the Mt. Shasta Avalanche Center for two years. It is now installed and operational. Together with data from half a dozen other remote and city-based stations, it will provide a daily avalanche hazard forecast for the region during the winter months. The public will have access to specific station data and the Daily Avalanche Hazard Forecast through the internet at www.shastaavalanche.org or by calling 926-9613.
